Annual acquiring authority data return is due by 11 August 2023
In accordance with the NSW Property Acquisition Standards (#5b), NSW acquiring authorities must report) on acquisition activity for the 2022-23 financial year to the Centre for Property Acquisition (CPA).
Property acquisition data is collected and publicly reported to increase transparency in the acquisition of private property for a public purpose and report on the extent the land is acquired either by agreement or compulsory acquisition. This includes acquisitions under hardship provisions, and acquisition of government-owned land.
NSW Acquiring authorities have been sent a request for data on all acquisitions of freehold interests in land as conducted under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 for the 2022-23 financial year.
To meet reporting obligations, acquiring authorities are required to provide deidentified data on all acquisition of freehold interests in land that were completed between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023, inclusive.
No identifying landowner information is provided to the CPA or published on this website. The data is limited to:
- Compulsory acquisitions with a gazettal date during this period.
- Acquisitions by agreement where the settlement date was during this period.
The CPA has been collecting and reporting on the data since 2017. Previous years’ data sets can be found on the Property acquisition data page.
The CPA would like to thank those acquiring authorities who have already submitted their data return for 2022-23.
