First home buyers who build a new home or purchase a brand new or substantially renovated property can receive a $10,000 grant.
How to apply
You can apply for the First Home Owner (New Home) Grant through your bank or financial institution when you’re arranging finance.
You'll need to provide documents to prove your identity and contracts for your property purchase when you apply.

Home and land package
The price limit factors in:
- vacant land purchase price
- value of comprehensive home building contract
- cost of any variations during construction.
The package must therefore include an eligible building contract.

Newly built residence
This could be a:
- house
- townhouse
- apartment, unit or similar.
It includes ‘off the plan’ purchases.

Newly renovated
This means a substantially renovated home, which must:
- be mostly removed or replaced
- not have been occupied by the seller, builder or a tenant prior to, during or after the renovations
- not have been previously sold, since the renovations were completed.

Existing homes
