The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is one of the state's main providers of crisis accommodation and emergency housing, catering for:

those who are homeless or at risk of losing their home
low income earners in need of social or affordable housing to rent
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
people experiencing family or domestic violence.

Government agencies are also supported by:

charities and similar organisations.
