Accuracy and fairness in valuations
At Value NSW we’re committed to upholding the highest standards in land valuation.
Acting on behalf of the Valuer General, we use a hybrid service delivery model.
To provide valuation services we employ both:
- in-house teams and
- external contractor firms.
We engage valuation firms that have passed through:
- a stringent, independent open tender process
- a thorough evaluation.
Valuation work audited
Value NSW continuously monitors the performance and quality of work done by all contractors through an ongoing audit program checking for accuracy to maintain the integrity of the information before it's released.
Professional Standards for Valuers
We hold valuers to the highest professional standards.
These standards
- outline the duties, responsibilities, and expectations of professional valuers
- are expected of members of recognised bodies (for example, the Australian Property Institute)
- are detailed at
- Australian Property Institute
- Australian Valuers Institute
- RICS profession and standards
- Australian and New Zealand Property Standards (PDF download from Property Institute NZ site)
Tender and selection process
Value NSW selects valuers through a transparent public tender process.
This process is managed by the Tender Evaluation Committee.
The committee includes:
- senior staff
- government representatives
- local councils and other stakeholders
- an independent probity advisor.
The committee assesses valuers based on:
- Employment management plans, staff quality, and availability
- Valuation methodologies and IT application
- Tenderer’s experience and past performance
- Quality assurance and service improvement innovations
- Compliance with NSW government procurement policies
- Cost-effectiveness and overall value.
Selected valuers must also agree to terms that address any real or potential conflicts of interest.
