Your acquisition support team
The acquiring authority will provide you with an acquisition support team. This team gives you practical advice tailored to your situation. Your team can consist of:
- A Personal Manager
- An Acquisitions Manager
- A Community Place Manager
In some cases, depending on the project, more than one of these roles may be performed by the same person.
Personal Manager
Your Personal Manager helps make the property acquisition and relocation process as easy as possible. Personal Managers are trained to help people impacted by property acquisition. They will work with you to find solutions tailored to your unique circumstances.
Your Personal Manager will:
- act as your primary point of contact and provide a personalised service for you and your household
- meet with you to understand your requirements, relocation needs and expectations
- ensure your personal information is kept confidential
- provide advice and help with your relocation. They can help find new schools and services in your new neighbourhood and even help you move.
Acquisition Manager
Your Acquisition Manager is responsible for the steps involved in purchasing your property. Acquisitions managers are property experts. They can answer questions about the property acquisition and valuation process. They’ll meet with you early in the process and provide you with expert technical knowledge.
Your Acquisition Manager will:
- explain the acquisition process and the steps needed to determine your compensation
- instruct an independent valuer to determine your compensation
- arrange all meetings between valuers
- negotiate with you to help reach an agreement on compensation
- prepare all necessary paperwork, including a Letter of Offer and the contract for settlement.
It’s recommended you also get your own advice from a qualified valuer and a lawyer. This will help you control the process. You can talk to your Personal Manager and Acquisition Manager directly whenever you want during the time your lawyer is representing your case.
Community Place Manager
Community Place Managers often work on major projects. They are the key point of contact for project-related information and can answer questions about construction work.
