Dubbo Health Service - a great place to work
- Redevelopment completed in 2021. $250M+ has just been spent redeveloping Dubbo Hospital. You can work with the up to date technology in bright welcoming clinician-designed workspaces. (see below videos). Redevelopment history :
- 2015: new maternity, operating theatres, day surgery
- 2018: new surgical unit
- 2020: new emergency and medical imaging, dialysis
- 2021: new ambulatory care, critical care unit, Western cancer centre.
- Variety and autonomy. Dubbo Health Service is big enough to see a wide range of presentations you’ll never see in metro and small enough they won't get whisked away to super sub-specialties - you get to work with your colleagues to the top of your scope.
- Friendly team. Develop solid working relationships with all the team, up to the most senior clinicians - and they'll know you by name.
- Vulnerable population. Our communities have more complex health needs than metro, with a 20% higher than average NSW mortality rate, 48% higher rate of preventable deaths and higher rates of obesity, blood pressure and cholesterol.
- Aboriginal health. Aboriginal people make up 15% of our population and are more than two times likely than non-aboriginal people to have a preventable hospitalisation. We are actively working toward closing the gap, including targeted work positions to close the gap at all levels.
- Research. We have a robust research vision, are proactive in seeking research opportunities supported by research leadership, key partnerships & collaboration and sustainable funding. See our research strategy
- Networked state-wide. We have strong connections within our health district and also to tertiary hospitals in Sydney - you will never feel isolated.
- Well respected. The experience you will get in Dubbo is well respected throughout the State.
- Teaching & training. We have several accredited training programs, with opportunities to teach with our university partners.
