Coonabarabran Health Service - a great place to work
Coonabarabran Health Service offers 24-hour emergency care, inpatient beds including general medicine, rehabilitation and palliative care, surgical services, including endoscopy twice per month and an anaesthetic clinic once per month.
Pathology services, x-ray and renal dialysis are offered, together with remote video assisted chemotherapy (RVAC) service and infusion therapy, blood and blood product transfusions,
Dental services are provided to children (in-reach service from Dubbo) and primary and community health services include end of life care in home, dressings, medication support, immunisation, diabetes education, QUIT program, child and family health and women’s health. An Aboriginal health worker/professional is on site.
Coonabarabran provides community midwifery service and sexual assault counselling, speech pathology, physiotherapy and has a mental health, drug and alcohol team consisting of a psychiatrist, mental health worker, peer navigator and a drug and alcohol worker.
Visiting services include oncology, paediatrician, renal physician, child and adolescent mental health service, Hearing Australia, podiatrist, marathon health, Dubbo Hearing Centre and Brian Holden Vision Institute.

Coonabarabran - a great place to live
Coonabarabran is known as the astronomy capital of Australia, having Australia’s first and one of three only dark sky parks in Australia. A dark sky park has exceptional starry nights and a nocturnal environment. The township has much to offer including, hotels, motels, cafes, boutique shops, supermarket, restaurants and takeaways and a pharmacy.
Coonabarabran is in close proximity to the Warrumbungle National Park and Siding Springs Observatory for star gazing, bushwalking and camping. Sporting facilities include a pool, sport and recreation centre, sporting complex and multipurpose courts, and multiple sporting ovals, all supporting rugby, touch football, softball, soccer, netball, cricket and many others, making Coonabarabran a great place to live and work.
Coonabarabran has a library, several preschools and childcare centres, two primary schools and a high school, after school care, girl guides, scouts and a TAFE college.
To get to know other people in Coonabarabran there are many community groups including an arts council, social club, fishing club, girl guides, Rotary and Lions service clubs, volunteer rescue association, Chamber of Commerce, men's shed, RSL Women’s auxiliary, Country Women's Association and riding for the disabled. Getting here
Coonabarabran is 1 hour 40-minute drive from Dubbo which has flights each day to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The drive from Sydney to Coonabarabran, via the Blue Mountains or the Hunter Valley is 6 hours.
A daily train/bus service from/to Sydney is available via Dubbo.
