Dunedoo - a great place to live
Dunedoo is located in Central New South Wales, a half hour drive east of Dubbo. The town is the southern gateway to the Warrumbungle Region, with a spectacular national parks and is the location of one of only three in Australia Dark Sky Parks. Set amongst the rolling hills and valleys surrounding the Talbragar River, Dunedoo is a popular place for a relaxing stopover for those on the road.
Dunedoo is a service centre to the surrounding district which focuses on the production of wheat, cattle, mixed farming, timber, lamb and wool. As with many wheat-growing centres of western New South Wales the town’s skyline is dominated by a large silo which has been painted as part of the Australian Silo Art Trail. The eastern side shows Dunedoo born jockey Hugh Bowman, with the mighty Winx and trainer Chris Waller. The southern and western side depicts the local rural landscapes including Black Swans flying overhead. Dunedoo is derived from the Wiradjuri language for Black Swan.
The town has a range of services including a local pharmacy, newsagent, post office, fuel station, delicious bakeries, supermarket, cafes, rural and hardware suppliers, stock and station agent, gift shop, and hairdresser.
Dunedoo sporting facilities include Robertson Oval (used for rugby league and netball) while the Dunedoo Sports club has a 9-hole golf course, four grass tennis courts, and two squash courts. Dunedoo also has lawn bowls club.
