Gulgong Multipurpose Service - a great place to work
Incorporating the HealthOne facility, the Gulgong MPS provides primary and community care and an emergency care service, clinical and operational support services, diversional therapy, dementia services and a patient lounge and courtyard. There are four sub-acute beds, six high care residential aged care beds and two treatment beds in the emergency department. The facility was constructed under 10 years ago.
Working in Gulgong is a great opportunity as it is right next door to Mudgee wine country, 20 minutes drive from the regional centre of Mudgee and 1 hour 20 mins to the city of Dubbo.

Gulgong - a great place to live
Gulgong’s narrow bent streets and high footpaths featured on the Australian ten dollar note for many years. The township was founded in the gold rush era when an estimated 20,000 people flocked to the area, its population is now 2,518 people
Whilst the streetscapes and heritage buildings haven’t changed much since the late 1800s, you’ll find a progressive and passionate community eager to welcome people, especially health workers to their town.
In your leisure time you can enjoy local produce from a range of coffee shops and dining experiences, plus iconic events including the Henry Lawson Festival, Gulgong Gold and Mining Festival, Gulgong Folk Festival and Gulgong Show are on your doorstep. You can also find hidden treasures and local produce at the monthly Gulgong Markets.
Gulgong has a small town feel, where everyone is connected and supported, but still has easy access to the larger towns and cities such as Mudgee, Wellington and Dubbo.

With a historic streetscape largely unchanged since the 1800s, visiting Gulgong is like stepping back in time. There are around 130 National Trust-listed buildings, many still adorned with wide verandahs and iron lacework. See Australia’s oldest opera house, the Prince of Wales Opera House, operating since 1871, and where the great Dame Nellie Melba once performed.
Gold fever struck the region in 1870, when payable gold was found at nearby Red Hill and 20,000 people flocked to the area. Prior to that, Gulgong was just a sheep run, a large property for raising sheep.
When you are in Gulgong you can go wine tasting at acclaimed wineries in the surrounding Mudgee wine region and explore the magnificent Goulburn River National Park, where you can see emus, red-necked wallabies and turquoise parrots, and enjoy fishing, hiking and camping in a tranquil setting.
Gulgong has an active community who like most small country towns support each other and welcome new residents - especially those who work in healthcare.

Gulgong has a twice daily service to/from Sydney using bus and train from Lithgow. This bus can also be used to get to Mudgee.
