Coonamble Multipurpose Service - a great place to work
Coonamble Multipurpose Service (MPS) is a modern hospital with 3 emergency department beds, 8 inpatient beds and 18 residential aged care beds. Services include 24/7 emergency care, general medicine, rehabilitation, palliative care, renal dialysis, outpatient services and a range of primary and community health care services.
Community health services include aboriginal health, ambulatory care, counselling, physiotherapy and health promotion, ante-natal and post-natal care through community midwifery as well as clinics, home visits and programs to support children in primary and community health needs.
Medical imaging services include x-ray, ultrasound and dental imaging. Visiting services to the facility include podiatry, mental health drug and alcohol and the specialist mental health team.

Coonamble - a great place to live
Coonamble is a town on the central-western plains of NSW with a distinctive blend of rural charm and natural wonders. Sitting at the edge of the Warrumbungle National Park, the Macquarie Marshes and rugged Pilliga Forest, there are limitless opportunities to explore nature at it’s finest.
Coonamble is the Aboriginal word for ‘lot of dirt’ and this rich dirt has made it one of the most productive regions in Western NSW and a service centre for wheat growing, wool production, sheep and cattle rearing. Coonamble was originally established to service farmers, their families, and the workers of the thriving agricultural industry.
Today, with a population of around 3,000 - there are a diverse range of industries that complement the agricultural sector with culture and creativity.
The community of Coonamble are lively, friendly and welcoming. The median age in Coonamble is 42 years with 34% of the population identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander in the 2016 census.
Climate
Coonamble has a hot semi-arid climate with long hot summers and short cool winters, with mild, albeit erratic, rainfall spread through the months. The summers are very warm and can have temperatures reaching up to 40 ° Celsius and in winter, nights can get down to 0° Celsius.
Community
Coonamble is a safe and welcoming town with a charming main street rich in heritage, art deco buildings, country pubs, lively cafes, boutique shopping and interesting mural art. The town claims the nickname capital of Australia with cartoons of various local characters and their nicknames on walls around town, introducing you to some of the unique residents of Coonamble.
Coonamble hosts an annual rodeo that is attended by around 1,000 competitors and the town comes alive with thousands of spectators enjoying the events over a long weekend.
Enjoy leisure time and be a part of the community through a large range sporting clubs, community interest groups, cultural and water-sports activities. The Coonamble Shire Library is very well equipped with materials and facilities, there are three schools and a TAFE, as well as a range of child care options, youth groups and holiday programs run through the local council. There are two places of worship at the Catholic and Anglican churches.
The town centre has 3 local supermarkets, a butcher, grocer and general stores. There are two major banks and a credit union, hair and beauty salons, retail and gift stores, a post office and newsagency. Dine out at a variety of cafes, restaurants, clubs and pubs.

The region lies across a range of landscapes, from the Warrumbungle Mountains in the east, the northern slopes and plains, supporting the vast forest of the Pilliga, across to the Macquarie Marshes in the west. The annual campdraft and rodeo at Coonamble attracts thousands to the town for a long weekend of country fun.

Education
Coonamble has three schools:
Coonamble Childrens Services offer daycare, pre-school and after school-care program and there is other child care services at Smart Kids Child Care Centre. Coonamble TAFE offers a range of educational opportunities. School holiday programs are offered through the Coonamble Shire Council.
Sport, recreation and community groups
There is a large variety of sport and recreation activities available including aero club, aquatic club, boxing, clay target shooting, golf club, greyhound racing club, pony club, jockey club, soccer club, rugby league, rugby union, athletics, netball, physical culture, touch football, tennis, cricket.
Coonamble has a range of community groups to support lots of interests including the CATS Amateur theatrical society, Combara ladies club, Coonamble arts alive society, Coonamble-Castlereagh landcare, Coonamble Ceramics Collective, Coonamble Cottage Industries, Country Womens Association, Mens Shed, Neighbourhood Centre, Lions Club, Rotary Club.

Getting here and getting away
Coonamble is halfway between Dubbo and Lightning Ridge and is a 2-hour drive from Dubbo.
