Financial counsellors provide free, independent and confidential advice to help you manage your debts or negotiate with creditors.  

• Visit the National Debt Helpline website for step-by-step guides and useful information on how to manage specific types of debts or call 1800 007 007. 
• The Australian Government’s Moneysmart website offers free tools, tips and guidance to help you take control of your money and improve your financial wellbeing. 
• Call the Mob Strong Debt helpline on 1800 808 488 for free legal advice about money matters for First Nations Peoples.

If you need legal advice or information, the following services can help: 

• LawAccess NSW is a free government telephone service that provides legal information, referrals and in some cases, advice for people who have a legal problem in NSW. Call 1300 888 529. 
• Legal Aid NSW can provide help over the phone:
