Who collects your information
Your personal information is being collected by Revenue NSW, authorised by the Fines Act 1996 and the State Debt Recovery Act 2018. We collect your personal information to manage your fines and/or debt.
Revenue NSW gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information. We do this by handling personal information in a responsible manner and in accordance with the NSW Privacy Laws:
How will we use and disclose your information
In managing your fines or debt, your personal information may be disclosed to others, such as:
- Service NSW
- Revenue NSW’s contracted printing and mail receiving providers
- NSW Courts and Revenue NSW’s or the issuing authorities’ legal representatives if the fine or debt is to be heard in court
- The agency that issued the fine including NSW Police, Local Councils and Transport for NSW
- The person you nominate for a fine (disclosure of your name only in this instance)
- The agency that referred the debt to Revenue NSW for recovery, for example NSW Ambulance, TAFE NSW and iCare
- Other third-party service providers engaged by Revenue NSW to support the administration of the fine or debt
- Statutory or regulatory bodies
- When administering other Revenue NSW legislation such as First Home Owner Grant (New Homes) Act 2000, Unclaimed Money Act 1995, Taxation Administration Act 1996, etc
- To invite you to participate in future evaluations for the administration of fines and debts
- As required by law including under the Data Sharing Government Sector Act 2015
Are you required to provide us with this information?
Revenue NSW will only collect personal information that is necessary to deal with your fine and/or debt. We collect this information as required under the Fines Act 1996 or State Debt Recovery Act 2018.
We will keep your information secure
Revenue NSW will take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, or other misuse. Your personal information will be held and disposed of securely.
