Resilient Homes Expos - May 2025

Due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the NSW Reconstruction Authority's (RA) Resilient Homes Expos have been rescheduled to May.

The Resilient Homes Expos are designed to help registered Resilient Homes Program homeowners looking to make their homes more flood resilient, and community members seeking to relocate a buyback home to a new location.

The Expos will provide information about the Resilient Homes Program grant process, development approval processes, and how successful resilient building and relocation projects can be delivered.

Homeowners and business representatives can visit information stands and speak with representatives from councils, RA, SafeWork NSW, Building Commission NSW, and various industry associations and businesses interested in resilient building services.

Breakout sessions on resilient measures, development approval processes, and relocation will also be on offer throughout the expo. There will be opportunities on the day to book 15-minute one-on-one appointments with a Council Officer or a Resilient Homes Program team member.

Space will be available for business displays at each venue, so please indicate your interest early. We will get back to you to confirm availability at the Expos.

Information Sessions

The following sessions will be repeated throughout the event, allowing homeowners and building industry representatives to choose activities that best suit their needs.

Session 1: Planning Resilient Measures work – Feasibility assessment and Development Approval process

  • Covering key considerations: Is home raising, retrofitting, or rebuilding suitable for your home, establishing a budget and tips for preparing a development application.

Session 2: Applying for a Resilient Measures Grant

  • Covering essential information on grant application assessment and progressing.

Session 3: The relocation journey and key stages (only at Tweed and Lismore Expos)

  • Covering tips for preparing your home for relocation, seeking specialist advice, and when and why you need a Site Access Agreement.

*Homeowners and **building industry businesses can also talk directly to discuss potential work.

*Notice for homeowners: NSW Reconstruction Authority does not vet or endorse the businesses that are offering services for flood resilient works or relocations. We encourage homeowners to make your own assessment of whether a business can meet your needs. This could include conducting searches at Service NSW to be satisfied a business is appropriately licensed and qualified to operate in NSW.

**Notice for businesses: There is no guarantee that your attendance will lead to work. Homeowners invited to attend these events will have either expressed an interest in relocating a flood damaged home to a new location or be eligible for grant funds for Resilient Measures. Resilient measures could include home raising, retrofitting existing homes with resilient design and materials or rebuilding, with assistance from the Resilient Homes Program.
