Programs, grants and funding

The Resilient Homes Program provides financial assistance to homeowners to improve the flood resilience of residential properties in the Northern Rivers and Central West.

The Protecting Our Communities (Disaster Resilience) Program has been established by the Australian Government to improve disaster resilience and preparedness in communities at a local level. These were Federal Election 2022 Commitments for NSW.

The Spontaneous Volunteers Support Program (SVSP) has been established in response to the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry’s recommendation that the NSW Government create a program to support better coordination of community efforts to save life and property during a disaster. 

The Australian Government has established the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF), to help communities protect themselves against the impacts of natural hazards across Australia.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (DRRF) will finance targeted work across the state of NSW to support the prevention, mitigation and management of disaster risk.

The Minister for Emergency Services Discretionary Fund provides grants to projects or programs that support the work of emergency services, other emergency management organisations, and those supporting community resilience to natural disasters.

This program provides grants to support local not-for-profit organisations in the Northern Rivers to continue to provide critical services supporting the recovery of the region after the 2022 floods.

The Northern Rivers Towns and Villages Resilient Business Activation Program (the Program) is part of a larger commitment to support the long-term recovery, betterment, and disaster resilience across the seven most impacted Local Government Areas in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Recovery Services Capacity Grants will provide $2.4 million in targeted funding to increase the capacity and capability for Non-Government Organisations to coordinate, train and support informal volunteers in the recovery stage of disaster events.

This grant program supported the work of locally-based groups in remote, rural and regional NSW that played a critical role in assisting their communities to navigate the impacts of COVID.

The Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF) offers financial support to communities affected by the 2019-20 bushfires.

The COVID Community Connection and Wellbeing program (CCCWP) funds locally led initiatives and events that promote social resilience, improve community connectedness and support communities recovering from COVID-19.

The Flood Rescue Capability Enhancement Program provides capability enhancement funding recommended by the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry.
