Members of the Central West Community Leaders Forum (CLF) met in Forbes on Monday 19 August 2024 and received updates on the various elements of the $100 million Central West Recovery and Resilience Package.
Regional Transport Resilience Fund Update
Transport for NSW provided an update on the Regional Transport Resilience Fund with submissions currently under review with the assessment panel.
Community Assets Program Update
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development shared that successful submissions for the Community Assets Program submissions have been published on the Grantfinder website at: nsw.gov.au/grants-and-funding/grant-recipients
Legal Aid Program Update
Legal Aid NSW advised they have enhanced their support in the Central West as part of the Recovery and Resilience Package. They are providing legal services across Cabonne, Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan LGAs, including both face to face and phone services. Specialist disaster recovery legal resources will provide these services for community members needing assistance with their disaster recovery. Fortnightly outreach is taking place in Eugowra and sessions are being planned in Condobolin and Lake Cargelligo in the near future.
Central West Recovery & Resilience Package – Consultation and Housing Program
The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) provided an update on the recent Community Information Sessions held across the four LGAs on the proposed Resilient Housing Program – Central West. High level analysis and engagement statistics were provided along with key themes raised to date. It was noted that engagement was still underway, and feedback is closing on Friday 23 August 2024.
RA also provided an update on the development of draft Resilient Homes Program – Central West Guideline. Feedback received during the engagement and from community leaders is being considered in key elements of the housing package, including program measures and funding. CLF members reinforced the importance of developing a housing package that meets the needs of the Central West community.
