About our services

Western NSW LHD provides a range of radiology services to our local communities.

By choosing to have your imaging performed at a local hospital, you are contributing to improving services in your local area. Help us build a better health care service in your community by choosing to have your x-ray at a local hospital.

There are imaging departments in 28 facilities across the Western NSW LHD. At most of our locations these services are available:

• 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to people in hospital
• during regular business hours for the general public.

The majority of services are bulk billed, so there is no cost to you or your family for any Medicare funded procedure.

Helpful information about our public imaging services

Referrals or requests for our services

• Your doctor can provide you with a request to have an x-ray or medical imaging procedure at your local hospital.
• You may choose to go to any service provider to have your x-ray or procedure. Even if your doctor gives you a request to another service provider, you can use that request at one of our services if the procedure is available there.
• You do not need to be a patient in hospital to access any of our medical imaging services at our 28 health facilities. Both patients in and out of hospital can access our services.

Access to your images and reports

• Our state-of-the-art imaging services are fully digital and networked, so your reports are sent to your referring doctor in a speedy manner.
• Your doctor has access to our specialist doctors who can view your x-rays and provide advice.
• Our doctors are highly specialised radiologists, some who live locally and others who also work in larger Sydney hospitals.

• For children – the Okee in Medical Imaging app includes information to help you discuss your child’s upcoming appointment and make visiting the hospital fun and exciting. There’s also handy information like phone numbers, parking tips and FAQs.
