Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct

The precinct presents a unique opportunity to expand existing freight and logistics operations. It is located along the Inland Rail and new Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics (RiFL) hub. 

The precinct has direct access to Port Botany and Port Melbourne. With the completion of Inland Rail, access will be extended to Brisbane. 

Wagga Wagga is the gateway to the Riverina, NSW’s food bowl, generating 23% of the state’s agricultural production. It offers numerous opportunities to capitalise, with potential to add value at every stage of the supply chain. Wagga Wagga’s location offers efficient market access to target retail-ready, high-value products to premium global markets. 

Bomen Business Park is home to food manufacturers, transport companies, and a range of enterprises already benefiting from colocation. 

Wagga Wagga is already home to advanced manufacturing businesses, offering access to a highly-skilled and diversified workforce.  

Digital infrastructure across the precinct offers fantastic opportunities to expand and value-add through automation and supply chain solutions. This reduces costs and improves product traceability.

The region is already renowned for international agricultural research and technology commercialisation. The Wagga Wagga precinct builds on this by offering research and development opportunities in:

Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation is working with partners such as TAFE and Charles Sturt University. The goal is to provide education and training opportunities which align with skill demands.

The Wagga Wagga precinct will be one of Australia’s first UNIDO Eco Industrial parks. These enable companies to gain competitive advantage through a circular economy.

Infrastructure for sustainable, cost-effective energy sources such as bioenergy and hydrogen, will be incorporated. The precinct will ultimately generate 100% of its own energy from renewable sources.

The region already contains successful recycling and renewable energy companies, in the Bomen Business Park. These include:

• A lead and battery recycling facility. This provides waste recovery services, thereby minimising waste streams and landfill.
• Spark Infrastructure with its 120-megawatt Bomen Solar Farm

With increased freight and logistics connections, there are opportunities for other higher value industries which recycle products.

The precinct also allows for additional energy generation opportunities.
