About the project
The Snowy Mountains Highway is a key route connecting the Monaro region, South-West Slopes and Kosciuszko National Park. Locals, tourists and workers commuting to the Snowy Hydro 2.0 use the highway daily.
Following the 2019-20 bushfires, a project was established to improve mobile coverage, and increased commuter safety, along the Snowy Mountains Highway between Talbingo and Adaminaby.
Five small cell mobile towers were built at the following locations:
- Alpine Creek
- Connors Hill
- Caves Road exit
- Lobbs Hole Ravine
- Tantangara Road
Progress
The Snowy Mountains Mobile Safety project is now complete, with the final site going live in March 2023.
Delivering improved mobile coverage between Talbingo and Adaminaby is a great outcome for locals, tourists, emergency services and community safety.
The five small cell mobile were delivered by Telstra, with joint funding from the Regional Digital Connectivity program and Snowy Hydro Limited.
