At the heart of Lismore, on the old Lismore High School site, you can visit Lismore Quadrangle. This beautifully landscaped central cultural hub includes Lismore Regional Gallery, Northern Rivers Conservatorium, Lismore Library and the Social Futures Clubhouse.
Known as ‘The Quad’, this area was transformed in 2017 to create a one-of-a-kind cultural precinct that provides a great public space where people can engage with a range of activations, talks, workshops, films, and community events.
Here at The Quad, Lismore Regional Gallery enjoys a larger gallery space than its original site at the Trench Building, where it was established in 1953. It is one of NSW’s oldest regional galleries, and its focus on an innovative and inclusive artistic program continues to be integral to Lismore’s cultural life.
Come along to the gallery to connect, share and learn. You can enjoy a bold program of self-generated and touring exhibitions to bring the community on a shared journey of making and engaging in contemporary art.
The creative program includes exhibition tours, workshops, performances, talks, screenings, learning activities, and deaf-led Auslan programs. You’ll also enjoy an extensive permanent collection, including the renowned Hannah Cabinet by Geoff Hannah, which is on display year-round.
Outside the Gallery doors, The Quad precinct provides a safe and attractive gathering point for people to come together and enjoy free activities and performances, hold community events, take part in creative workshops and installations, or relax on the grass.
