Create NSW is the NSW Government’s arts and cultural driver. We provide funding and support across regional and metro NSW to help grow the arts for everyone to enjoy. This includes the Holiday Break Program.
What is the program?
The Holiday Break Program is a rotating school holiday program of cultural events for young people (age 12–24 years old) across regional NSW. The program:
- provides funding for projects designed to engage audiences in regional NSW
- provides funding for performances, exhibitions, workshops, and a range of other events
- is open to artists, arts organisations, and community groups based in regional NSW.
Key aims
The Holiday Break Partnership Program aims to:
- Respond to gaps and opportunities for children and young people participating in arts and culture in regional NSW. This includes those affected by drought, bushfires, floods and COVID-19.
- Increase employment opportunities for NSW based artists and cultural workers
- Support new partnerships between artists, arts organisations, and local communities.
- Encourage the development of new audiences for arts and cultural activities
How the program helps young people
At Create NSW we're proud to support a program that gives young people a range of skills and opportunities. This includes:
- the chance to enjoy a range of recreational and social activities
- the chance to enjoy activities that are responsive, free, and local
- greater creativity, imagination and self-confidence
- improved physical, social, cognitive and emotional development skills.
