Location and history
The Gunnery is located at 43-51 Cowper Wharf Road, Woolloomooloo, NSW 2011.
It is close to the Sydney CBD, the Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Art Gallery of NSW.
This State-Heritage-listed building was originally constructed in 1910 as a naval gunnery instruction centre. It later served as a squat for artists and activists in the 1980s, before being renovated and reopened as an arts centre in 1992.
The building was fully refurbished in 2023.
