This is one of the Create NSW properties that are provided to support the arts and cultural sector in NSW.
Location and history
The Parachute Ground is located at Lilyfield, in Sydney's inner west. It's a former Army parachute regiment store that dates back to the 1940s. The site comprises three main buildings (1, 5 and 19) and a purpose-built physical theatre rehearsal facility called The Red Box.
Highlights and amenities
The Parachute Ground offers affordable office, rehearsal and storage space for creative organisations and practitioners. The site has five buildings with different features and capacities, such as:
- The Red Box, a rehearsal space with sprung floor, sound system, lighting grid and rigging points that can accommodate up to 100 people for performances or events.
- Buildings used for offices and storage spaces by arts organisations.
The site hosts a diverse range of arts organisations that contribute to the vibrant arts and cultural scene in NSW. This includes the acclaimed physical performance group Legs on the Wall.
