Wamboin, Bywong and Sutton internet connectivity
Pilot project to deliver improved internet connectivity
About the project
In June 2022, the NSW Government engaged telecommunications provider Opticomm to build a fibre-to-the-premises network in Wamboin, Bywong and Sutton.
The contractor experienced several unexpected delays, which prompted a review.
The review concluded that the project was unable to meet the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver publicly funded projects on schedule, to the agreed scope and to the allocated budget.
Opticomm will conclude its current work connecting premises in some parts of Sutton where the street network has been installed.
No new network construction will occur in Wamboin or Bywong, or the remaining parts of Sutton where construction has not yet commenced.
