Check fuel prices
FuelCheck is a free NSW Government service that helps you find the cheapest fuel and lets you know the best day of the week to fill up your vehicle.
FuelCheck is a free online service from the NSW Government that will:
- provide you with real-time information about fuel prices
- help you find the cheapest fuel in your local area, suburb or town
- search for the closest and cheapest offering of any fuel type.

Features of the FuelCheck app
With FuelCheck you can:
- set price alerts and receive notifications when your preferred petrol reaches a certain price at your favourite station or is cheaper at a station nearby
- use 'My Trip' and plot frequent or long journeys to find the cheapest petrol on that route
- use 'Trends' to track price changes and find the cheapest day of the week to fill up in your local area.
If you cannot find the fuel type you are looking for at your nearest station
If you cannot find the specific fuel type you are looking for on FuelCheck it may be because the service station:
- does not sell that fuel, or
- has temporarily run out of stock.
Let us know if the station that you are looking for is still not showing up.
Tell us if you see a different price from FuelCheck
You should not see a different price at a service station and from FuelCheck. Operators are required to make sure the prices match FuelCheck, and the standard price at the pump.
If you see a price difference, you should alert the service station operator. If there is no resolution or you are not satisfied with the operator’s response, you can lodge a complaint with us.
Make a price discrepancy complaint through FuelCheck
To lodge a price discrepancy complaint through FuelCheck, you need to do it while still at the service station.
Follow these steps to make a complaint on FuelCheck.
- Bring up the FuelCheck complaint form.
- Tap on the relevant station in map view and click on ‘Report Price Mismatch’ which will bring up the station details.
- Attach evidence of the price discrepancy which can include a photo of the service station signage, bowser display screen, or a receipt of the price paid.
Making a complaint
When making a complaint, you should include:
- details of the issues you are experiencing
- copies of any correspondence that shows how you have tried to resolve the matter.
How NSW Fair Trading will handle your complaint
Your complaint will be reviewed to determine the most appropriate resolution. This may include:
- providing you with information to help resolve your complaint
- recording the complaint issues to assist in future compliance programs, or
- contacting the other party to try and resolve the dispute.

After making a complaint we will:
- review your complaint
- fine the service station depending on the circumstances and if necessary, a penalty notice of up to $1,100 can be issued for a corporation and up to a $550 penalty notice for individuals (sole trader or partnership).
