Getting help with costs
A serious injury can have a significant financial impact. Find out about government payments, insurance, and other support.
Experiencing a serious injury can be financially difficult for you and your family.
There can be increased costs for medical expenses, specialist health care, and rehabilitation programs.
Your ability to earn an income can also be affected if you have to take extended time off work.
Help to cover all or part of the costs involved may include:
- various government payments and rebates, including specific allowances for energy costs if extra medical equipment is needed at home
- your life insurance policy or private health cover
- workers compensation, if injured at work
- CTP (compulsory third party insurance) if you were injured in a motor accident.
