About IVF
If you’ve been unsuccessful in getting pregnant, your doctor may suggest using assisted reproductive treatment. The most common type is IVF.
The NSW Government is making IVF services across NSW more affordable by offering:
- a $250 rebate for out of pocket expenses for pre-IVF fertility testing
- cheaper IVF treatments at selected IVF clinics
- a fertility preservation service for cancer patients.

Starting IVF for the first time can seem overwhelming.
Your IVF Success is a government funded website where you can get independent information on:
- what IVF is and what happens during an IVF cycle
- an estimate of your chances of having a baby through IVF
- all fertility clinics in Australia, so that you can compare clinics
- further resources.
Getting emotional support
It's common to experience a lot of different emotions during IVF. It can be a challenging time for you, your partner and your relationship.
It can help to talk to someone, including:
- a professional counsellor
- a trusted friend or family member
- an online forum or group of people with similar experiences.
