About our GP Access
GP Access After Hours is an approved after-hours medical service that provides timely care when your regular GP is closed. You can access the after hours on 1300 130 147.
When your condition or health concern cannot wait for regular business hours, but you are not unwell enough for emergency, GP Access provides assessment and treatment by experienced, qualified general practitioners and registered nurses.
Services offered include:
- Caring for people of all ages who are acutely unwell e.g. pain, vomiting, rashes and respiratory symptoms after being triaged through our telephone triage.
- A clinic based face-to-face appointment or where appropriate, or a telehealth consultation.
- Fracture management.
- Wound review and treatment including minor burns, cuts and abrasions.
- Pathology as needed.
GP Access After Hours operates via a phone triage and appointment system. For routine and non-urgent care, you should make an appointment to see your regular GP in business hours.
GP Access provides bulk-billed services for eligible consultations. GP Access staff will discuss eligibility/ineligibility for a telehealth consultation at the time of the telephone triage. A fee will be charged if a patient does not meet the eligibility requirements set by Medicare and proceeds with a telehealth consultation.
GP Access provides comprehensive and quality after-hours medical care and advice to people of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and surrounding areas.
