About our sexual health services
Our sexual health service provides care relating to STIs (sexually transmitted infections) and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). We prioritise people from groups considered most at risk, including:
- people with symptoms of an STI or in contact with someone with a confirmed STI
- gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men.
- trans and gender diverse people
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people
- people from or who have had sex with a person from countries with higher rates of HIV
- people who work in the sex industry
- people who inject drug
- people who have been incarcerated
- young people aged 14 - 18 years.
Services and support programs for sexual health and HIV include:
- testing, treatment, care and support for HIV
- counselling on STI and HIV related issues
- information and advice for STIs, HIV, Hepatitis B and C
- free vaccinations for Hepatitis A and B, and mpox to those most at risk
- Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for people who may have been exposed to HIV.
- information and delivering Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for people at high risk of contracting HIV. Most people will be referred to the right services for continuation of PrEP.
Referrals
No referral is necessary, and all visits are free and confidential.
While we prefer to bulk bill your visit using your Medicare Card, you will still be seen if you don’t have a Medicare Card or prefer not to use it.
If you prefer a male or female clinician, please inform our staff when booking your appointment. Interpreters are available in most languages.
