How to apply
We want all candidates to have a good experience when applying to work at the department. Our recruitment process involves:
- applying online through I work for NSW
- attending an interview
- completing assessment tasks and activities
- pre-employment checks: reference checks, qualifications, eligibility to work in Australia, working with children checks, criminal history and some roles will require a health assessment.
We encourage and support applications from people with disability (as defined in Disability Discrimination Act 1992) by making adjustments to the interview and assessments to enable equal access in the recruitment process. Candidates can request an adjustment at any stage of the recruitment process.

All employees working in the department can request a workplace adjustment. A workplace adjustment is a change to process, procedure or environment that enables people with disability to participate fully in all aspects of employment, have equal access to opportunities for career development and be safe in the workplace.
The Wellbeing Ambassador Program is a voluntary peer support program.
This program is designed to raise awareness of mental health concerns and mental health support services. The program provides training to employees on the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), common mental health concerns and the role of the Wellbeing Ambassador in confidently referring people to professional support, including the EAP.
We strive to ensure our people, visitors and customers are able to access our premises in a safe, equitable and dignified way.
