Change or vary the details on a licence or registration
You must notify us within 7 days if there are any changes to your name or address. Additionally, you must tell us of any changes in circumstances or events that may impact your licence, certificate or registration.
Key information
Key changes to licence, certificate or registration details include:
- change of address, contact phone number or email address
- change in your name
- change in your company name as registered with ASIC
- change to the directors of your company as registered with ASIC
- change to any members of your partnership
- change in nominated supervisor
- if you enter bankruptcy or a scheme of arrangement with creditors
- if your company is deregistered or becomes subject to a winding up order or to the appointment of an external administrator or controller.
Change of details for building and trade licence and certificate holders
Update your address or contact details
If you hold a current building or trade licence or certificate and your address or contact details have changed, you can:
- Update your individual contractor licence details online
- Update your company or partnership contractor licence details online
- Update your tradesperson certificate details online
- Update your qualified supervisor certificate contact details online
Make sure your current email address or mobile phone number is registered with Building Commission NSW.
You can also update your details in person at a Service NSW centre by completing the notification of change of address form.
Update your name
If you want to change your name, you'll need to complete the change of name form. This includes any changes to the name of a company director or partnership member.
You will also need to provide a certified copy of your change of name document, such as a marriage certificate.
The documents can be submitted in person at a Service NSW centre.
Update your company name
If you want to change your company name, you'll need to complete the change of name form.
You will also need to attach evidence of your change of company from ASIC, for example a current company extract.
The documents can be submitted in person at a Service NSW centre.
Change of company directors
Please use the change of company directors form.
Change of details for design and building practitioners
If you need to update the details on your existing design or building practitioner registration, such as:
- your name
- address
- phone number
- company or director name
you must complete a Notification of change of details form.
This form authorises Building Commission NSW to amend your record, which will also be updated on the public register.
Once you have completed and signed the form, it can be lodged with supporting documents by email to dbpregistration@customerservice.nsw.gov.au.
You will be notified once your record has been updated.
Change the conditions on a licence
Your licence or certificate allows you to do and/or supervise the work described on your licence card, subject to any specified conditions.
These conditions may be imposed to limit the scope of work you are able to do, or place other requirements on the licence or certificate holder.
If you want to change a condition on your licence or certificate you will need to lodge a form online:
- Change the conditions on an individual contractor licence
Change the conditions on a company or partnership contractor licence
You will need to provide the following with your application form:
- Your current licence or certificate number
- your proof of identity
- evidence of qualifications or experience to validate the change of condition.

Change in your nominated qualified supervisor
If you need to change or add a nominated supervisor to your company or partnership contractor licence, you’ll need to complete the nominated supervisor consent form.
If your nominated qualified supervisor has left, either your company or partnership or the nominated qualified supervisor need to tell us within 7 days. This is generally done by email to:
