Templates for home schooling parents

Templates for home schooling parents have been developed to support you with monitoring and recording your child’s progress. 

The templates can be downloaded and printed if you want to keep a hard copy. You can use the templates as they are or modify them to suit your own approach.

Syllabus templates for monitoring and recording progress

Syllabus templates for monitoring and recording progress can provide you with a starting point to keep track of your child’s progress. Using the templates is completely optional. Parents are also able to develop their own systems for monitoring and recording progress and achievement.

There is a template for each NESA syllabus identified in the minimum curriculum requirements for K-10 as described in the Guidelines for Home Schooling Registration in NSW.

The templates provide the editable documents for each subject that you can use within one stage of learning (for example Stage 1, Stage 4).

Each template contains syllabus outcomes, focus areas and content along with additional space for recording your child’s progress.

You have the flexibility to use your own approach. You can track the progress and achievement of your child on the the parent comment, level of achievement and evidence column in a way that suits you.

These templates may also be helpful when preparing to apply for renewal of registration.

Record keeping templates for learning and achievement

The NESA Syllabus Record keeping templates for Home Schooling Parents are another set of tools available to support you when recording, across a period of registration, your child’s:

  • learning activities
  • progress and achievement.

These templates are based on outcomes or focus areas and content.

You may use the prompts provided on the template or modify them to suit your needs. This information may assist you to:

  • prepare your educational program
  • record the learning activities and resources used to meet your child’s individual learning needs.

Templates have been developed for all NESA syllabuses from Early Stage 1 to Stage 5 on the NSW Curriculum website.
