NESA syllabus overviews for home schooling identify outcomes, content and stage statements (where applicable) for syllabuses in each key learning area. Outcome summaries provide parents with references for programming and planning learning.
What are syllabus overviews?
Syllabuses describe the essential learning required in each subject, identify the knowledge and skills to be learnt, and provide opportunities for children to apply skills in each subject.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus overviews include:
- all NESA syllabuses from K–10
- a selection of syllabuses from Years 11–12.
They contain additional information than has been provided in previous programming tools.
The NESA syllabus overviews typically include:
- outcomes
- content
- stage statements (where applicable).

Outcome summaries provide parents with a list of all the outcomes from all relevant NESA syllabuses. They provide parents with a quick reference to assist in programming, planning and monitoring their child’s learning.
