Gradstart - Nursing and Midwifery
We offer a comprehensive program for first year Registered Nurses (RNs) in many of our hospitals and direct entry Registered Midwives (RMs)
MidStART
NSW Health provides a career pathway called MidStART, for registered nurses to become registered midwives.
The program involves employment as a student midwife in a NSW public health facility while undertaking a postgraduate midwifery diploma at university. Recruitment is carried out annually between June and September for all training positions in the following year.
Aboriginal nurses and midwives
The NSW Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Strategy aims to improve Aboriginal health by providing opportunities for Aboriginal peoples to gain education and employment opportunities in the field of nursing and midwifery.
It also aims to work with the current NSW nursing and midwifery workforce to provide better health services to Aboriginal people through the delivery of culturally safe and competent nursing and midwifery services.
