Role
The Industrial Relations Taskforce’s role includes:
- establishing discussions between workers and government groups
- ensuring the Industrial Relations Commission is strong and independent
- examining health and safety matters in workplaces.
Goals
The Taskforce will work on these important goals to improve workplaces:
- Interest-Based Bargaining Stream: This provides a new way for workers and their leaders to talk more with government groups. It can help find ways to save money and improve efficiency and pay.
- Strengthening the Industrial Relations Commission: The taskforce will help ensure this group stays independent. It will strengthen their resources and ability to resolve problems at work.
- Scope Review: This is a review to expand the role of the Commission. For example, in handling health and safety at work and other important work issues in NSW state.
People
The Taskforce was announced by Minister for Industrial Relations (the Hon Sophie Cotsis) and the Treasurer (the Hon Daniel Mookhey) on 5 June 2024.
Anna Booth and Roger Boland will lead the Taskforce.
- Anna was previously Deputy President of the Fair Work Commission.
- Roger was previously President of the Industrial Relations Commission. He was also a judge of the Industrial Court of NSW.
