Our multidisciplinary sexual health teams include specialist sexual health doctors, specialist nurses, social workers and administrative staff. Our social workers can provide counselling for a range of sexual health related concerns and interpreters are available.
Our free and confidential services include:
- testing, treatment and management of sexually transmitted infections
- treatment and management of HIV
- vaccination, following STI assessment
- contact tracing
- GP (general practitioner) support and advice
- Hepatitis clinic referrals
- specialist support and counselling for sexual health issues and people living with HIV
- phone information
- Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV
- chaperone available on request for examination

Who is eligible
All sexual health clinics in NSW have eligibility assessment as outlined in the NSW Health STI and HIV Strategies. This assessment criteria focuses on people at highest risk.
Free and confidential testing, treatment and management of sexually transmissible infections (STI) and HIV or AIDs is available to the following population groups living in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD regions:
- young people under 24
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- gay men
- men who have sex with men
- people living with HIV
- sex workers
- people who inject drugs
- people who have symptoms of an STI
- people who have had sex with someone who has been diagnosed with an STI
If you are not included in any of the above groups, you may be referred to another appropriate service. Family Planning, GPs and other services can provide routine health care such as pap smears, contraceptive services, breast checks and assistance with sexual dysfunction.
NSW STI Programs Unit
The NSW Sexually Transmissible Infections Programs Unit (STIPU) leads STI health promotion and service development in NSW. STIPU provides services such as the Sexual Health Info Link service, Play Safe for young people and other programs. Visit STIPU for further information.
NSW sexual health services and helplines
The Sexual Health Plus section of the NSW Health website provides a portal with links to NSW Health strategies, reports, services, policy directives and guidelines; as well as national research, policies and agencies relating to sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses (BBVs).
The NSW Sexual Health Infoline is an NSW Health funded collaboration between Sydney Sexual Health Centre and the NSW STI Programs Unit (STIPU). The service is anonymous and nonjudgmental, providing information on HIV, STIs and sexual health. Call Info Link on 1800 451 624.
ACON (AIDS Council of NSW) is New South Wales’ leading health promotion organisation specialising in HIV and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) health.
This website provides information about some of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) experienced by gay men (HIV-positive or HIV-negative).
This website has been developed by Melbourne Sexual Health Centre to help people who have been diagnosed with Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Mycoplasma genitalium, Syphilis and Trichomonas let their sexual partners know that they too might be at risk of an STI.
The ‘Play Safe’ website (developed in consultation with the NSW Youth Advisory Council) is a one-stop shop for young people who want to know more about safe sex and STI testing, and the easy-to-navigate layout and funky design make it especially youth friendly. Play Safe provides young people all the information they need about safe sex, getting tested and STIs in the one place.
The NSW Sexual Violence Helpline is a 24/7 telephone crisis counselling service for anyone in NSW who has experienced sexual assault, recently or in the past. The helpline also supports family members or other supporters of anyone who has experienced sexual assault, and others impacted by this violence, including professionals.
