About us
The Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct aims to improve the quality and accessibility of health care in our community.
It is a partnership of like-minded people from health, education, industry, and government who work together to enhance services.
The Precinct supports the design and delivery of state-of-the-art healthcare services, so our community can experience better health outcomes.
It works with local communities to better understand health needs and collaborates to design innovative and practical ways to improve services in our community.
To understand more about the direction and scope for the next five years, please read the Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct’s Strategy for 2024-2029 (PDF 12.56MB). This document will provide the Precinct Board and its partners with a clear shared sense of direction for the work we do and help us identify, design and implement the right solutions to our unique regional and rural issues.
Precinct goals
The Precinct has three goals:
- Enhance research to develop new and innovative ways to provide services.
- Improve education and job opportunities to grow the regional workforce.
- Strengthen the journey through the health service.
When the Precinct achieves these goals, our communities will be healthier, and our health and education systems will be stronger.
The Precinct is building the best, most efficient and connected regional health service possible that provides safe and timely care that meets your health needs. A health system where our community has a choice in how and where they can go to look after their health.
It is supporting doctors, nurses and specialists who work in our hospitals, general practices, and community health centres to work together across the private and public health system.
It is improving how health workers are trained and employed in our region, so they have the skills and technology they need to care for us in our community to improve health and wellbeing.
Precinct governance
The Precinct’s strategy and governance aligns to the NSW Regional Health Strategic plan and other strategic plans and frameworks of our Precinct partners.
The Precinct is led by a dedicated board with members representing public and primary health, local government and education, and is led by an independent chair.
The board oversees the strategic direction through effective decision making to ensure intended goals are achieved and result focused outcomes are delivered in our region.
Our Precinct partners are members of an alliance that collaborates on the development, growth and promotion of health and knowledge in the Murrumbidgee region. This group represents our community’s interests and expectations, bringing relevant issues and opportunities to the alliance for discussion.
The Precinct has three working groups that are designing, developing and implementing identified initiatives.
Precinct working parties
Creating innovative education and employment pathways for community members to train and grow their careers within our region, to attract, develop and retain a highly skilled workforce.
The Precinct is establishing strong partnerships with local schools, vocational training institutions and universities. It is designing efficient pathways to educate, train and employ local health professionals. This working group is creating an Education and Rural Workforce Strategy to inform workforce planning, enhance service delivery, and ensure a sustainable health service in our region.
Identifying and addressing current research capabilities, limitations and opportunities to encourage innovation and attract research opportunities to the Murrumbidgee region.
This working group is investigating innovative healthcare models to improve access to healthcare services and provide the latest medical technologies and procedures. This will help improve population health and wellbeing. The Precinct will create a “Centre of Excellence” right here on our doorstep to showcase the amazing ideas and work being done in our region for our region.
Enhancing the coordination, reducing fragmentation, and improving health services to provide a cohesive healthcare system that you can access close to your home.
Our patients and their medical team can move seamlessly through the healthcare system as there is better collaboration between services, from care in the community to specialists' health care services. The Precinct will design and implement region-specific strategies and best-practice frameworks that enhances the healthcare journey and delivers positive health outcomes.
