Murrumbidgee Local Health District is seeking interest from local creatives to develop artwork that will inspire and comfort patients, visitors and staff in public and clinical spaces of the new Temora Health Service.
Applicants with strong community links to the Temora region and living within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for one, or several, of three art opportunities:
Project 1: Welcome Artwork
This artwork will welcome staff, patients and visitors to the site. It will feature in a prominent location near the main entry. Opportunities include an artwork applied to a bulkhead, wall hung artwork or a sculptural form within a landscaped area. This project seeks interest from artists willing to co-design and/or co-deliver an artwork with community that tells a story about Temora and Wiradjuri Country.
Project 2: Art in clinical spaces
A number of locations have been identified for artwork within clinical locations. These include wall hung artworks in the inpatient lounge to create a home like environment, a wall mural in a staff workspace to contribute to a positive work environment, and graphic artwork applied to glazing to support privacy. This project seeks interest from a variety of artists, including (but not limited to) artists who create 2D artworks, have experience in graphic design and/or create large scale murals.
Project 3: Exhibition Corridor
This project seeks interest from local artists, creative groups or organisations eager to create an exhibition of 2D work displayed in a key clinical corridor of the new Hospital. The available space is approximately 20 linear meters.

Following the schematic design consultation, the project team will collate all feedback from staff, stakeholders and community. This important feedback will inform the design process as it continues. Staff and clinical consultation continues in 2024 through Project User Groups.
The release of the concept design is an exciting stage for the redevelopment. The Temora community were encouraged to come along to a series of information sessions held in February, and speak with the project team and provide feedback.

Construction of the redevelopment is expected to start in 2025.
The project team is seeking interest from community and staff representatives who may wish to be a part of the group which will discuss opportunities, and provide input, into the strategy for landscaping the hospital’s grounds and outdoor spaces.
This is a way to improve the health and wellbeing of consumers, staff, and visitors, by supporting connections between the outdoors and the new hospital.
Successful applicants will initially be required to attend three meetings which will run for approximately 1.5 hours each.
Expressions of Interest closed on 18 September 2023.
An Arts Working Group was established to identify opportunities to include art in all its forms in the new hospital. The Arts in Health initiative is one way to improve health and wellbeing, support cultural connections to the new hospital and create a welcoming environment.
The Arts Working Group is responsible for advocating the successful integration of arts for wellbeing, inclusive of heritage elements into the Temora Health Service Redevelopment project. Members of the Temora and district community and staff were invited to join.
Expressions of interest closed on 18 August 2023.
The Temora Health Service Redevelopment project team undertook master plan community consultation in July 2023.
Community information sessions were held in Temora on Wednesday, 30 November 2022. Many community members, consumers and staff called in to chat with the Project Team and learn more about what’s involved in delivering a redeveloped hospital for Temora.

Design phase
Building hospitals and healthcare facilities is a complex operation involving three key phases – planning, design and delivery. Each development is tailored to a community’s unique health needs and long-term health requirements.
The Temora Health Service Redevelopment project is currently in the design stage. Consultation for master planning, concept and schematic design is complete.
