A temporary COVID Vaccination clinic in Balranald will continue to operate until September 30th. Local GPs and pharmacies, and other agencies continue to provide COVID-19 vaccinations, as part of the 3,500 vaccine providers across NSW.
Far West LHD acting Chief Executive Jodie Miller said the closure of the vaccination clinics will allow staff working in those clinics to return to their previous roles in facilities and health services, where they are most needed.
“I’d like to thank the efforts of our committed and dedicated staff who have done an incredible job in contributing to the COVID-19 vaccination program,” Ms Miller said.
“Our vaccination centres have administered more than 33,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses across the LHD since the pandemic started. Over 95 per cent of the eligible population across all local government areas in the LHD have had two COVID-19 vaccination shots and 67 per cent have had a third booster shot.”
“The LHD’s vaccination efforts have helped keep our community members safe during the pandemic, and we appreciate the efforts of our staff and our partner organisations including Maari Ma and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS),” Ms Miller said.
Vaccinations continue to be available at pharmacies in Broken Hill, Wentworth, Dareton, Buronga and Balranald and at Maari Ma Aboriginal Health Corporation. The RFDS continues to operate clinics in remote and vulnerable communities such as Wilcannia, Menindee, Ivanhoe, Tibooburra and White Cliffs.
Ms Miller said the Far West LHD had performed an incredible job in providing vaccination clinics in all our communities, including conducting or participating in numerous pop up and outreach clinics since the vaccines were made available.
“I would like to thank the community for attending the vaccination clinics over the past 15 months, during a sometimes challenging time.”
The Far West LHD will continue to monitor vaccination efforts across the District and attend regular meetings with health partners. The LHD will be in a position to again respond to vaccination demands if it becomes necessary.
Appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations, including winter booster doses, can be made via the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder.
The Far West LHD is still providing COVID-19 testing at its Broken Hill Community Health Centre (Sunday to Friday, 8am to 4pm) and at our other facilities.
