The Broken Hill Hospital Kiosk Auxiliary volunteers have again helped Far West Local Health District purchase equipment for use in the Broken Hill Hospital.
Earlier this year, the Kiosk Auxiliary donated $161,313.30 to the hospital to buy equipment for use across its services.
The money purchased the following equipment:
$70,215 for a new device for specialist clinics to measure the eye and calculate the power of lenses that are implanted in the eye to help focus better.
$64,372 for three defibrillators including one with advanced monitoring capabilities for ECG analysis and treatment for patients in cardiac arrest.
$13,915 for a dedicated ECG machine for the Oncology Unit.
$6,240 for 20 new patient handsets for nurse calls and television control.
$2,380 for an instrument trolley for the Dialysis Unit.
$4,180 for a vital signs monitor for the Surgical Ward.
Broken Hill Health Service’s General Manager, Julie Manoel said the health service is extremely grateful for all the work the Kiosk volunteers do.
“This equipment, which we can use across the whole hospital, is incredible. We say it all the time that our health service really benefits from the contribution of all our volunteers,” Ms Manoel said.
“I sincerely thank all the volunteers and the Kiosk Auxiliary for their generous donation.”

A previous significant donation by the Kiosk Auxiliary to the Broken Hill Hospital was $158,775 in the 2022-2023 financial year, which was also used to purchase equipment.

People at risk of harm from alcohol and drug use in Far West NSW, will have greater access to support and treatment, with a $10.7 million funding boost from the NSW Government to enhance services over four years.
