Our role
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development works towards the twin objectives of growing primary industries and supporting regional economic development to deliver long term benefits to regional communities.
Collectively, we are responsible for:
- Local Land Services
- NSW Resources
- Agriculture and Biosecurity
- Fisheries and Forestry
- Regional Development and Delivery.
Together, we work to:
- build stronger primary industries
- drive regional investment and economic development
- oversee productive and sustainable land use and natural resources
- deliver regional infrastructure and grant programs
- help strengthen social cohesion.
Home to about 40 per cent of the state’s population, regional NSW includes coastal, inland, rural, remote and metro regional areas.
To service these diverse regions, we have several agencies and offices.
We have skilled and dedicated teams working in 200 locations across regional NSW.
