Hawkesbury District Health Service
Public services at Hawkesbury District Health Service are managed and operated by St John of God Health Care, through a public-private partnership with Nepean Blue Mountains LHD.
Hawkesbury District Health Service is a 131-bed teaching hospital in Windsor. It provides a wide range of public and private hospital, community and allied health services, to inpatients, outpatients and day patients.
Nepean Blue Mountains PHN
We are proud to partner with Wentworth Healthcare, provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (PHN). We work together to improve health outcomes for the Nepean Blue Mountains community. Wentworth Healthcare is federally funded, and coordinates and supports the delivery of high-quality primary health care in our region.
Greater Western Sydney Health Partnership
We work with South Western Sydney and Western Sydney Local Health Districts, in the Greater Western Sydney Health Partnership to promote and advocate for better health outcomes for the region of more than 2.3 million people – almost 30% of the NSW population.
The partnership is designed to improve access and delivery of health care for our diverse communities, support healthier neighbourhoods, and tackle local health and community issues. Through the partnership, we have worked together to start a training program for clinical trial coordinators, improved access to Hospital in The Home, and started an Aboriginal Health Academy to provide ongoing pathways for Aboriginal people working in health.
The Quarter
This partnership of major healthcare providers, education institutions and local government centred on the region’s largest hospital, Nepean is committed to excellence in health care, medical research and world-class education in Western Sydney. Spanning 400 hectares between Penrith and St Marys, The Quarter is synonymous with innovative thinking and collaboration, and has room to grow.
University of Sydney
With the University of Sydney we provide valuable learning opportunities for medical students and research opportunities in biomedical, clinical and epidemiological research across all disciplines.
The Nepean Clinical School is a network of teaching hospitals of the Sydney Medical School centred in the Nepean Hospital precinct.
Western Sydney University
The Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Research works with NBMLHD, the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the Translational Health Research Institute, as well as other relevant areas of Western Sydney University to build research capacity and affect practice change in nursing and midwifery through translational research strategies.
University of Notre Dame
We are a teaching hospital for the University of Notre Dame. Located on the Lithgow Hospital campus, students can explore the multifaceted dimensions of Rural Medicine with excellent and dedicated teachers who have made Rural Medicine their passion as they participate in daily ward rounds, palliative care, surgery, anaesthetics, and the maternity unit.
Other tertiary institutions
Our alliance with key tertiary institutes also includes TAFE Western Sydney Institute, Australian Catholic University, and University of Tasmania. These partnerships realise the opportunity medical, nursing and allied health students have to learn from our experts and gain hands-on experiences throughout their career.
Consumers
When health consumers are engaged in the process of delivering health services, there are better results all round.
We are committed to involving consumers in the design and delivery of health services, and the ways we address health issues.
Our consumers partner with us through working groups, committees and online surveys to improve the delivery of our services.
