As the 'Excellence in sustainability' category sponsor, Transport for NSW continues to deliver sustainable public transport infrastructure as part of the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 project.
Recent sustainability initiatives include:
a new 5.7km shared walking and bike-riding path along the light rail corridor from Parramatta to Carlingford to improve connectivity
planting more than 5500 new trees in Parramatta by 2024
NSW's first light rail green track to reduce urban heat and improve biodiversity
using 80% locally sourced materials in light rail stop construction
delivering a wire-free track in 2 zones to integrate with urban and heritage-sensitive environments.
Having reduced its overall greenhouse gas emissions by more than 76,000t, the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 project continues to deliver a sustainable and future-proofed transport system for the Western Sydney community.
