Carlingford to Parramatta shared path now open
The 5.7 kilometre shared walking and bike riding path from Carlingford to Parramatta is now open.
Work continues on the Parramatta Light Rail, including:
- the fit-out and testing of light rail stops
- work on and around power substations
- light rail overhead wiring and underground cabling work
- on-site testing and commissioning of light rail vehicles.
The Parramatta Light Rail team is endeavouring to maintain access to the shared path while works are underway. Please be sure to:
- observe local signage
- follow the directions of on-site traffic controllers at all times.

The shared path starts on Boundary Road at Carlingford (near the Carlingford light rail stop) and ends at Tramway Avenue in Parramatta.
The path also travels along the new Bidgee Bidgee Bridge over James Ruse Drive, providing spectacular views of the Western Sydney region.
The shared path will connect to a network of planned or completed cycleways that have been delivered by Transport for NSW in partnership with Parramatta City Council, including the:
- Alfred Street Bridge link
- Parramatta Valley Cycleway
- Marsh Street shared path
- Epping to Carlingford Cycleway
- Escarpment Boardwalk
- planned 91-kilometre Parramatta-to-Sydney Foreshore Link.
