Women and children's outpatient clinic patients can access specialist appointments, tests and procedures without being admitted to hospital.
About us
We provide a range of specialist and general services for women and children including developmental assessments, general paediatrics, genetics, obstetric pre anaesthetic assessment and paediatric surgery.
Referral information
Patients will need a referral from their doctor or GP (general practitioner) including details of their patient history, current medications and symptoms, addressed to one of our specialists or paediatricians.

Referrals are not required for the Obstetric Pre Anaesthetic Assessment Clinic (OPAC).

The following specialist services are available at the Nepean Hospital Women and children's outpatient clinic.
Information
Our antenatal clinics provide regular checkups and care for women throughout their pregnancy.
We offer several options including general practitioners (GPs) shared care, caseload midwifery, obstetric led care and midwifery led care.
Making an appointment
We recommend contacting the hospital at 10 to 12 weeks of pregnancy to arrange for your first antenatal care appointment. On your first visit we will do a comprehensive assessment of your medical history and discuss care options with you.
All new patients will need a referral from their GP (general practitioner) or specialist addressed to one of our below specialists. GPs and referring clinicians can access the form in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD outpatient referral catalogue.

We see patients who have been referred by a paediatrician or through the Nepean Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Our general paediatricians provide diagnosis, treatment and care for infants, children and young people.
Making an appointment
All new patients will need a referral from their GP (general practitioner) or specialist. Referrals must contain the reason for the consultation, a birth and developmental history and, where required, relevant reports such as:
- psychometric assessments
- speech therapy reports
- occupational therapy reports
- psychology reports
- pathology results
- medical imaging results
- hearing and eye assessment results.
