Genetics clinic patients can access specialist appointments, tests and procedures without being admitted to hospital.
About us
We provide services to pregnant women, children and adults who have been diagnosed with a genetic condition, are thought to have one, or are at risk of having one.
Making an appointment
We accept referrals for patients regarding a wide variety of genetic conditions or concerns, such as:
- fetal anomalies or genetic condition diagnosed in pregnancy
- increased risk due to personal or family history of genetic or inherited condition
- pregnancy planning concern due to increased genetic risk
- people with a personal or family history of chromosomal conditions or genetic or inherited syndromes
- people at an increased risk following carrier screening
- people with an intellectual disability, dysmorphic features or congenital anomalies with suspected syndrome diagnosis
- people with clinical features suspected of genetic or inherited syndrome diagnosis
- people with a family history of genetic or inherited conditions, intellectual disability, congenital anomaly, still birth, diagnosed genetic condition
- patients needing a paediatrician-ordered genomic testing (under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)).
All new patients will need a referral from their GP (general practitioner) or specialist, including a completed referral form, before an appointment can be made. GPs and referring clinicians can access the form in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD outpatient referral catalogue.

Hours of service
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Women and Children’s Outpatients Building D Level 3.
- Wednesday at Medical Outpatients Building C Level 1.
