About the program
We have student placement agreements with many tertiary institutions in a range of disciplines to enable undergraduate students to gain supervised clinical experience within our facilities.
All student placements are arranged through your education provider.
You can find more information about scholarships, training programs, clinical placements and career options on the NSW Health website.
Before your placement
All students are required to provide their immunisation documentation and an original police check before commencing a placement at a NSW Health facility. Your education provider can assist with submitting your evidence for assessment. Information about the requirements for compliance can be found in your student handbook.
You will need to complete the forms in your documentation handbook and be sure to bring the handbook with you on your first day of placement.
Commencing your placement
Your supervisor will provide you with an orientation of the facility, including workplace health and safety and will outline your responsibilities as a student working in one of our facilities.
Resources
The Student Handbook for Clinical Placement (PDF 14.77MB) will assist you with the knowledge you will need for your student placement. It directs you to NSW Ministry of Health policies and procedures that have important workplace health, safety and medico-legal implications for all staff and students.
Student placement survey
We encourage you to provide your feedback on your experience via the 'Student Placement Survey' on completion of your placement. This survey is located in the Student Handbook for Clinical Placement and will be treated as confidential.
