FWLHD Violence Abuse and Neglect Service (VANS) acknowledges the significant impact of violence, abuse and neglect on individuals, families and communities.
Ochre Ribbon Week represents a commitment to safety, respect and healing. It amplifies the voices of Aboriginal people and highlights the importance of creating environments where Elders, men, women, children and families can thrive. It is a reminder of the strength, resilience and leadership within communities working towards safety and wellbeing.
Violence, abuse and neglect can have far-reaching effects on health, safety and wellbeing. By increasing awareness and understanding, we can strengthen support networks, promote healing, and contribute to positive change. Every person has a role to play in ensuring communities are safe, strong and connected.
The public are invited to come together in support of Ochre Ribbon Week at a community event on Wednesday 19 February 2025 at the Salvation Army Hall (196 Wolfram St, Broken Hill) from 11am to 1pm. A free barbecue will be provided and Ochre Ribbon activities held.
The event is an opportunity to connect, learn and access information about available services. Together, we can work towards a future where every community is safe, supported and empowered.
