The Thomas Street public entry at the Broken Hill Health Service will be re-opened as of 7am on Monday, 27 June 2022.
The main public entry point (via the horseshoe drop off point, alongside the Emergency Department public entrance) remains open.
“The closure of the Thomas Street entry was part of our COVID-safe planning and we were always aware of the impact this had on patients and visitors to the hospital,” said Mr Umit Agis, Chief Executive, Far West LHD.
“I’m glad that we are now able to reopen the entry and relieve some of the inconvenience this may have caused. I wish to thank the public for their patience and understanding as the health service continues with measures designed to ensure their safety and that of our patients and staff,” said Mr Agis.
Both hospital entrances will be open from 6am to 8pm daily. There will be a concierge (staff member) at the entry to screen visitors and advise of the visitor limits. The concierge will ask you if you are well and where you are going in the health service. Visitors will also be asked to use the hand wash basin outside the entry.
The temporary walkway from Thomas Street along the Hospital Road will be removed and the current traffic restriction for Hospital Road will be restored to two way traffic. The health service urges everyone to use this space with care and for drivers to obey all traffic directions and speed limits.
Current visitor arrangements at Broken Hill Health Service include:
- Reduced visiting hours: 10am-12pm and 5pm-7pm;
- ONLY one (1) visitors per patient PER DAY at any one time
- Special visitor arrangements may be negotiated for extenuating circumstances such as for palliative care and obstetrics;
- All visitors MUST wear a mask at all times.
