The trial is designed to improve construction site standards across NSW by ensuring safety of residential building sites, providing appropriate site amenities and maintaining them, and minimising waste.
Building Commission NSW recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Stockland, as the first major group to take part in the NSW trial. In addition to maintaining a high level of cleanliness and maintenance, Stockland will provide a separate female section, featuring handwashing facilities with adequate ventilation.
Stockland is installing these new worksite amenities at Elara in Marsden Park, The Gables in Hills Shire, and Forest Reach in Huntley.
In NSW, there is a projected shortfall of 100,000 construction workers needed to meet the current demand for new homes. Improving amenities on worksites will make the industry a better place to work and attract more people to a career in construction.
More information about improving site amenities and how to get involved can be found on the Improving amenities on class 1 building sites web page.
