As someone with 3 decades of experience running a small business, I am passionate about helping and growing the small business community. I understand the key role small businesses play in supporting our economy and local communities across the state.
I am pleased to release the NSW Government's Charter for Small Business, which is a promise we made to the people of NSW. The Charter was developed following consultation with industry and community stakeholders. It outlines 6 principles to support a stronger relationship between NSW Government agencies and small businesses (those with an annual turnover less than $10 million or with fewer than 20 full-time employees).
The NSW Government is already taking important actions to support small business, which shows our commitment to the Charter. We have included these in an action plan, and we will report progress as we go. But this plan is just the start, and we will add new actions that respond to key issues for small businesses.
To show our commitment to supporting small business the Service NSW Business Bureau was launched on 25 October 2023. The Business Bureau is responsible for supporting the Charter and helps businesses access government services, information and advice to support them to grow.
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the NSW Charter for Small Business and action plan. This marks a significant step in achieving a better relationship between the NSW Government and small businesses, fostering stronger local communities and a resilient economy.
